General Surgery & Obstetrics Clinic

History of the Clinic

General Clinic “Evangelismos” was founded in 1935 by the Gynecologist Solonas Antoniadis. The Clinic was housed in a two-story building on Venizelou Street, and was handling, in addition to OB-GYN related cases, many other Surgical and General Pathology cases by the general physicians and surgeons active in Veroia at that time. In 1957, it was relocated to a modern privately-owned building, close to the old one, on the same street. The first childbirth took place on January 27, 1957. The Clinic, since its foundation, has been aiming to provide comprehensive secondary healthcare services to the local community, with consistency and responsibility, collaborating with the best medical professionals of that time.

The Clinic today

In 2010, responding to the increased needs to modernize its medical services, the Clinic completed a series of renovations, in terms of building infrastructure and medical equipment, offering the possibility to perform several types of surgery from additional specialties. Clinic “Evangelismos” today has the following departments: General Surgery, Gynecology-Obstetrics, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, including endoscopies and laparoscopic operations. The Clinic is supported by an in-house microbiology and radiology laboratory. The vascular surgery department primarily serves the needs of the other branch of the “Evangelismos” Group, which is the Hemodialysis Unit, located in Patrida, which is close to the city of Veroia. In 2020, the Renal Outpatient Clinic “Evangelismos” started operating on Venizelou Street, in a building located next to the Clinic. All visiting patients can receive medical support and guidance from the administrative staff of the Clinic and its doctors on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of kidney diseases.
